Not really too much of a racing atmosphere, but the ice theme is definitely there! I love how the melody goes, it’s very cutely mixed, a few awkward parts with the piano and other instruments, and it could use more bg sound effects, but pretty much there’s no much to criticize other then it’s not too much like a race :D really sweet work!

ZuwerWS responds:

Yeah at one point I just dropped the racing scheme and though "this sounds good enough, I won't try to force myself to fit both themes, it's fast enough I guess it could serve for a race", which yeah I still think so but I'm glad you said what you think

WOW THIS SHITS LONG

Congrats on the instantaneous frontpaged (Jealousy increased +1) XD

This is really good, synths fit like a glove, and many of the instrument choices are really good! Love the bassy acid sub bass thing at 3:01, I think I used a similar one in my song Mustard Gas. It’s a bit repetitive, but again, this is trance, I won’t hold it against you lol. Most of the transitions are really well done, but some could definitely have a better form, less awkward or jarring basically. The melodies are great! Mixing and mastering is pretty good, uniqueness isn’t that much, I’ve heard many like this before, but it’s still great! This also sounds more like a dancing theme than a racing theme, and the ice theme isn’t exactly there so uhhh, hmmm, I guess it’s kinda there with context lol XD. But still best of luck to you.

I like how you made it loud, but not so loud as it to become staticky and shit. Really well done and strong work, good luck to you!

NGMC score(btw, the competitors are the judges): 3.7/5 (most problems come from the lack of correct atmosphere and theme)
General score: 4.8/5

Pretty cool hardcore music, I agree, @Carboluka being a beginner in hardcore did really well with this :D

The mixing overall is straightforward, nothing to wild or crazy, melodies are basic but effective, that is until we hear the acid lead at 2:12, IMO not that great instrument choice, but it works as a sorta beta version, perhaps maybe there is a better lead for it.
I also can definitely hear the arctic and racing feel in this. It’s also a bit empty at 3:00, maybe higher the volume on the light backgrounds pads. The next part is sweet due to the transformation like transition, it’s really good! The drop is back, and thus ends it all!
Pretty well mixed, mastered, some instruments could be swapped out, but overall, this is a great track I’d definitely hear at a dance, i love the unique approach to the transitioning in this song!

Almost forgot to score XD

carboluka responds:

As you can probably tell, the lead was made by me 🤣 (it could very well be playing in the wrong role, but it conveys the sheer sense of S P E E D)

I was channeling my inner cheesy-ness to get the most out of the sound design, but I can never hold back on transitions, glad you like those!

The fucking Theodore Roosevelt man in the arena speech as a sample… my goodness you are speaking softly with a big stick there.

Not really ice themed other then the bell IMO, but definitely racing themed, I love the guitar at 1:10, it then starts to get more icy themed at 1:32, but I think it’d be better if you tried holding onto the ice through out. The piano by @Solacitude is very well made, props to him! It then loses the ice at around 2:23 back into pure racing frenzy. Very good instrumentation, mixing and mastering, everything sounds very clear, and the guitar still sounds amazing! Very amazing work! Keep it up!

crispybatteryacid responds:

Thanks for the review, CF! Lol you recognized the speech? Nice

Yeah we tried to keep to the arctic theme as best we could, drifted off in a few places bu l think we did pretty well overall. Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the feedback!

Very loud! I like it! I love all the different approaches, and the mariokart sample at the start definitely adds to the mix. The melody and bass is really well done, though it gets so loud it becomes not so well mixed, when you put something at to high a volume or compression, it sounds like static, so maybe turn it down a little. Imma ignore 1:42… I don’t like Breakcore but I won’t let it affect my scoring, I’m discarding it entirely.
The riser is pumping as shit, almost started doing push-ups. Then shit drops and we’re back on track. Pretty well done and very gritty in the second part, I love it!

The ice and racing themes are definitely there, but as I’ve said, some areas could have less volume, and additionally it could be less repetitive, but I don’t think I got the right to say that since this is trance lol. Samples and scratches oddly fit there at the end. Overall well done! A pretty strong work in general and the competition!

Time for the critique! By far this is my fave song other than my own in the competition, it’s got a good ice theme, and it’s definitely a racing theme. I’m a big fan of the guitar, is you and guitar like me and orchestral? Either wise, mixing and mastering is great! Drums could maybe be less compressed, but only a little, it still very visible. The synth guitar theme at 1:24 definitely reminds me of Mariokart in some way, while the first half sounds like Waterflame. Overall, very well done song! My biggest critique is the master volume… TURN THAT SHIT UPPPPP

Thank you so much!

Beautful, just beautiful! I’ve listened to most of the songs, and lemme tell you there is no story quite like this one, unique approaches, like, I DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO CRITICIZE!

Yeah… this is something else, in terms of the competition, not really fitting as you’ve said XD. BUT HERES YOUR SCORE

Thanks for this awesome review!

FantasistEldrun responds:

Thanks !

To be honest, even about the competition, I am very happy to produce bangers as well :)

Another frontpaged work! Nice!

The ice feeling is kinda there, but if I didn’t know this were ice competition I wouldn’t think that. A lot of unique approaches, and some catchy ass bass at 0:56. The filtered offbeat Breakcore sounds a bit well… off, could use work. The chiptune also sounds odd in this, some more mastering and mixing could definitely have been done, since at the second I can barely hear the melody or the bass over the drums. The drums are fire but the mix is definitely muddy, though I think that was intentional. It’s definitely a racing theme, a something I’d probably find in some monster truck ice track. The guitar is by far my fave part of the song, very well done!
Overall, Pretty cool and unique, but some parts such as the mixing and the Breakcore drums could’ve been pulled better.

Arponax responds:

Yeah to me that theme was more in the overall mood of the track when it comes to like upbeat or somewhat goofy/spontaneous or playful melodies...and also theres some wind too XD tho that was just a random idea i had that could add few points to that maybe.

I tried to not alter the chiptune parts too much cause i dont have much experience with it...i did a little bit of EQing and panning on it and it sounded alright so i kept it as it is.

Mixing is something i personally decided to kinda just use as a tool to achieve the sound i want since having completely clean sound feels dull to me (ofc not mentioning that it is a hard thing to do XD so maybe its a lazy thing) so my approach to that is...if im able to clean it, good but if theres a little bit of a "healthy" mud im happy with it too.

Thanks tho, it was a fun collab...cant wait for other rounds.

Xtrullor dubstep like fr has always been a fave.

The ice theme is definitely, along with the racing theme. The attempts anf experimentation is also definitely there! I like all the different approaches you made with this! It’s also better than any dubstep I can do. Mastering and mixing could definitely be improved, a lot of the instruments also don’t fit or have the same feeling as the rest of song. The piano is especially odd sounding, I say work on your mixing and instrumentation, and then I’d say it’s good to go! All it takes is practice!

NGMC score: 3.8/5
General score: 3.8/5

Well well well, a frontpage!

Well I’m gonna start us off harsh… this doesn’t sound like a racing theme, but it’s got the arctic vibe pretty well! Yeah I get what you were aiming for here, but even in those aspects it’s just not right. But then the weird hardcore acid part comes in, which I’m guessing is @PIAHC, that’s the closest it’s sounded to a racing theme, but it doesn’t sound like ice oddly enough.
Enough with the criticism, I’ve got some good critique! Both catch the theme pretty well, just in a different yet sadly vain approach. Instrumentation is amazing, and the mastering and mixing is quite well done. The song gives a very unique approach to the theme as well, something not many have done so far. The orchestration is also really well made, though IMO it could use some depth. Not bad!
