So you’re asking me to shit on your new stuff here huh… alright, I’ll give you the extreme criticism, but you asked for it. So don’t tell me I’m “bullying” or being unreasonable when this is what you asked for.
Very basic instrumentation, needs a ton of reverb, it’s also a very quiet song that could use compression. Mix is needing of a ton of work, many of the instruments don’t sound right. Mastering is minimal, many instruments heard could be better with Param EQ or Graphic EQ. Transitions aren’t that great, and it feels like it’s constantly changing, switching songs even. I will admit 1:36 is kinda fire, but the guitar felt very cliche before and even during it after you listen to it for a while. Super orchestra hits are not mixed enough to make this sound any nice. Chiptune after the orchestra hits is beyond weird and unfitting. The “dubstep” I’m just gonna say it… isn’t even dubstep, it’s just a synth bass looped in a melody. I do like the pad with the “dubstep” it seriously fits. Then it changes to the keyboard which does sound pretty good. It seemed to get better at the end at 2:20, with the guitar mixed with the kicks, and everything seemed to actually pretty well together, it’s just a bit minimal… the rest needs tons of work done on it. I will tell you this, melodies are improving, so you are improving.
Listen, I did what you asked, I shat on the song, going with my honest opinion ON EVERYTHING! But to be fair, I’m not the best, the best reviewer you can meet is someone by the username of @Taintedlogic, which you can find on Newgrounds. you could ask him to review this song, and he’ll give you a complex, but an EXTREMELY accurate and reasonable review. He doesn’t shit on the song, like you’ve asked me to, and he’s 100% honest, whilst also not being a nitpicker. But be warned, if you can’t take criticism, I wouldn’t recommend asking him, he’s there to give advice, but it’s up to you to accept it.
