Interesting! I like the quirky synths and the unique instruments used in this song! My fave part by far is the drums, they are so normal yet the normality seems so perfect in this track of chaos. The vocals are so weird but for a song like this it fits greatly. My only suggestion is to maybe add more lengthy basses!
Nice work man! Really unique then what I’m used too, but no less enjoyable!

Haha thanks for the review! :D

Another absolute banger from the album. This one actually gave me tears when I was in a tough time… it’s a truly amazing masterpiece, obviously the best in the album.

Preds responds:

glad that my music can be of help through tough times <3 thanks!

I’d recommend adding some reverb to many of the instruments such as the string in the more empty parts of the song. Melodies are pretty well made, possibly my favorite part of the song are the melodies, a lot of catchy melodies. Drums are also a bit dry and empty, as well as too much volume in the track.
I’d recommend adding more better transitions, even a simple cymbal can do wonders for music like this, but I think the biggest problem is reverb, you always want to have some decay in the instruments when it comes to orchestral instruments. As I’ve said earlier, the melodies are extraordinarily catchy, it just needs to have better transitions cause I feel like there are multiple songs in one here.
Could use work, but hey, for someone who’s just beginning, you’re doing good! Keep it up!

SunixMusic responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I enjoy learning from my mistakes. I will take reverb into consideration. For the second half, I changed the speed and key of the music.

Not bad man!

I like the instrumentation! Synths are cute though they have some very odd melodies compared to the drums. The rock guitar is also a bit on the odd side with all the chord transitions, sometimes longer notes are better for the job! It’s also an uncompressed, but it’s still sounds pretty well, maybe add some more hard hitting compression on the drums and synth.
Sounds well! I can hear both themes in this in a really good way! Great job, good luck in round 2!

I love the sweet tune of this! It’s very peaceful, even with the guitar part! Really nice work man!

WakerLink responds:

thank you!

I bet this collab has happened before.

Honestly, despite its calm feel, it’s definitely got the racing aspect, the ice aspect is also really relevant. The instruments are very well made and perfectly placed, I especially love the French sounding instruments (what is it called?)
Overall I have nothing to criticize, maybe there is some panning issues but it really depends at this point.
NgMC score: 5/5
General score: 5/5

Everratic responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you find it relevant to the theme :D The French instrument is likely the accordion - it's one of my favorites.

Not really too much of a racing atmosphere, but the ice theme is definitely there! I love how the melody goes, it’s very cutely mixed, a few awkward parts with the piano and other instruments, and it could use more bg sound effects, but pretty much there’s no much to criticize other then it’s not too much like a race :D really sweet work!

General score: 4.8/5

ZuwerWS responds:

Yeah at one point I just dropped the racing scheme and though "this sounds good enough, I won't try to force myself to fit both themes, it's fast enough I guess it could serve for a race", which yeah I still think so but I'm glad you said what you think

Pretty cool hardcore music, I agree, @Carboluka being a beginner in hardcore did really well with this :D

The mixing overall is straightforward, nothing to wild or crazy, melodies are basic but effective, that is until we hear the acid lead at 2:12, IMO not that great instrument choice, but it works as a sorta beta version, perhaps maybe there is a better lead for it.
I also can definitely hear the arctic and racing feel in this. It’s also a bit empty at 3:00, maybe higher the volume on the light backgrounds pads. The next part is sweet due to the transformation like transition, it’s really good! The drop is back, and thus ends it all!
Pretty well mixed, mastered, some instruments could be swapped out, but overall, this is a great track I’d definitely hear at a dance, i love the unique approach to the transitioning in this song!

Almost forgot to score XD
NGMC score: 4.2/5

carboluka responds:

As you can probably tell, the lead was made by me 🤣 (it could very well be playing in the wrong role, but it conveys the sheer sense of S P E E D)

I was channeling my inner cheesy-ness to get the most out of the sound design, but I can never hold back on transitions, glad you like those!

The fucking Theodore Roosevelt man in the arena speech as a sample… my goodness you are speaking softly with a big stick there.

Not really ice themed other then the bell IMO, but definitely racing themed, I love the guitar at 1:10, it then starts to get more icy themed at 1:32, but I think it’d be better if you tried holding onto the ice through out. The piano by @Solacitude is very well made, props to him! It then loses the ice at around 2:23 back into pure racing frenzy. Very good instrumentation, mixing and mastering, everything sounds very clear, and the guitar still sounds amazing! Very amazing work! Keep it up!

Thanks for the review, CF! Lol you recognized the speech? Nice

Yeah we tried to keep to the arctic theme as best we could, drifted off in a few places bu l think we did pretty well overall. Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the feedback!

Time for the critique! By far this is my fave song other than my own in the competition, it’s got a good ice theme, and it’s definitely a racing theme. I’m a big fan of the guitar, is you and guitar like me and orchestral? Either wise, mixing and mastering is great! Drums could maybe be less compressed, but only a little, it still very visible. The synth guitar theme at 1:24 definitely reminds me of Mariokart in some way, while the first half sounds like Waterflame. Overall, very well done song! My biggest critique is the master volume… TURN THAT SHIT UPPPPP
